Virginia Adult Learning Resource Center (VALRC)

VALRC (Virginia Adult Learning Resource Center) provides professional development, training, and resources to expand access to high-quality instruction that equips adult learners with essential skills and resources. By expanding access to education and dismantling barriers to literacy, this program aids in workforce preparation for adult learners across the state of Virginia. The VALRC’s vision is “that the field of adult education and literacy will have the best available tools and training to help adult learners build a better future.”

The VALRC supplies both virtual and in-person trainings to adult education instructors and program staff across Virginia; provides career building support through workforce preparation models, including integrated education and training models; works closely with DARS to support learners who have disabilities; and manages the learner-facing GED® Virginia website and GED® Helpline.

The VALRC maintains four websites for this work:

VALRC is funded by the AEFLA (Adult Education Family Literacy Act) through the VDOE and by DARS (the Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services).

IET Blueprint

The IET Blueprint is a comprehensive resource designed for career pathway programs that integrate academic and literacy skills, workforce preparation activities, and occupational training. The resources on this site aid in designing, strengthening, and scaling career pathways programs through simultaneous co-enrollment in adult education and postsecondary occupational training.

The Blueprint offers a step-by-step guide designed for administrators, partners, and instructors to organize the necessary tools to plan, design, implement, and evaluate integrated education and training programs.
